Why Know was founded in response to the alarming number of teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases in the Hamilton County and northwest Georgia areas. Since its inception in 1991, a record drop in the local and state teenage pregnancy has occurred!
Why Know works closely with schools, churches, and civic organizations to equip teens to be sexually abstinent by giving in-depth knowledge, ongoing support, and life skills for a successful future.
Why Know accomplishes its mission through the following objectives:
Sharpen critical thinking skills to analyze choices and how they impact their future
Instill factors that build resiliency to overcome past failures and injustices
Empower teens to identify and evaluate a positive support system of peers and adults
Help teens possess a vision for their future and steps to achieve it
Increase teens' sense of self-worth
