“Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose."
Helen Keller
Did you know that since Why Know’s inception, the teenage pregnancy rate in Hamilton County (Chattanooga) has decreased from 54.5 to 14.7?* This reduction has been attributed to the thousands of teens that we reach every year in our community, nearly 13,000 students in public schools alone last year! Such a dramatic decrease in statistics could have only occurred through the unwavering support of our friends and donors.
We would like to extend the opportunity to serve our community’s youth by inviting you to become a member of Advocates for Teens, a caring group of mission friends who are committed to giving on a regular basis to bring the message of abstinence and hope for a successful future to our youth. This message is more important than ever in a society where, by age 25, at least half of sexually active young people will have acquired an STD.**
In addition to the difference you will make in our community, membership to Advocates for Teens carries benefits including:
A convenient monthly response form (you will receive only one mailing each month with your receipt)
Receive newsletters and personal quarterly updates from local students and Why Know staff members
Invitations to all Why Know conferences including parent training sessions on topics such as teen dating abuse and how to help adolescents deal with pornography and the internet
Receive special membership materials and educational resources
Have an opportunity to interact with area teens through special round table luncheons
Receive discounted table hosting at our annual banquet
Invitation to a special reception with special Why Know supporters and keynote speakers
Impact the next generation of leaders who will ultimately define the future of our society
Will you join the other Advocates for Teens who are supporting adolescent abstinence and achievement in Chattanooga and the surrounding areas? Whether you decide upon a $15, $30, or $100 monthly pledge? Your gift will be gratefully received and put to good use! If you are interested in becoming a member, please e-mail our Director of Development, Mike Taylor, or call us toll free at 1-877-WHY-KNOW (949-5669) or (423)-899-9188 for local residents.
